{ Paleo 101 }

Wondering what Paleo is, exactly?

There’s a lot of talk about Paleo these days, but what is it all about? Well, the simple answer is that Paleo is a way of eating, and what we like to think of as more than just that. It's an entire new way of living. {no, it is not a diet!} A "365" lifestyle if you may. It’s a decision to change your life by omitting processed foods, grains--especially those high in gluten, & dairy from your diet. At first, it seems a little overwhelming, but we urge you to start with the whole30 and go from there. It will give you a feel of what it's all about. You will soon begin to realize how much better you feel, and even how much better you look. It changed everything about the way we eat, see and feel about food.

And yes, in case you were wondering, we know exactly what you are thinking. The answer is, NO! You don’t need to sacrifice all those foods you thoroughly love, just change the way they are prepared and purchase meats that are grass-fed, and fruits & veggies organically grown. {which you should do anyways..} Easy peasy.

 So, how can you get started???

1. First of all, if it isn't already, make google your new greatest resource. If we ever have a question, or need a new idea, we google it. What really kicked this off for us was the whole30 challenge. This really helped us get started and also see if Paleo was for us. We totally recommend you doing this, if you are even thinking of giving it a try! It's a great place to start.

2. Read all you can about the Paleo Lifestyle. There are all sorts of books/cookbooks out there, but honestly, you can find everything online that you need to get started and to stay Paleo. Our favorite book was, It Starts With Food {aka: the whole30} can be purchased online here, as well as at any Barnes & Noble. Reading and researching this will help you to know if this is something that you want to try, and that may work for you. We can't say if it will work for you, or if you'll love it or hate it, you have to decide for yourself.
3. Do what is best for YOU. Let us just say again, and drill it in your heads, that this is NOT a diet! It is an entire lifestyle change. {and you will notice awesome changes in yourself, trust me} You will see exactly what we are talking about...it's just too hard to explain. Who knows maybe Paleo will be for you, maybe not, there is really only one way to find out! Try it, you may like it. You may really enjoy the way you look and feel. Besides, you do have to eat something...might as well be real food.
